The website hasn’t been updated in nearly six weeks and that belies the amount of work that’s been done in that time. We’ve been in the finish stage for some time and the work has progressed steadily. We’re nearly done with electrical and plumbing trim work and the tile work remaining is outside on the front stoop. The carpet has been laid throughout the house and in a couple days the hardwood floor crew will be applying their final coat of finish. We’ve actually started moving a few things back into the house. We won’t be living there until the 16th or 17th of May. There’s a lot to say about the project but we’ll save most of that for the final entry in a few weeks. Here is the last batch of photos shot today.

This is the bar area looking South. The three metal posts on top of the granite bar are stanchions for a ¾” thick piece of glass that will serve as the bar top. The glass should be installed shortly after we move back in. Another feature evident in this photo is the mosaic backsplash behind the stove. It’s made of recycled glass tile. Each type of light that strikes it highlights different colors. The three small lights hanging over the bar area provide ample light for the bar as well as a unique design feature that was the result of Heidi’s exhaustive internet search. Heidi has taken Marie’s vision and design and added her own touches throughout the house. She’s put in countless hours and has done a terrific job of selecting hardware, paint colors, carpet and a variety of other items that fit the design beautifully.

This shot is looking West. The tall cabinet in the left center of the picture is the pantry cabinet. The kitchen sink is under the window and a smaller prep sink is in the counter on the other side of the bar. The faucet hose is visible in the center of the picture.

This shot is looking North and provides a better look at the prep sink. The flat stainless steel panel in the bottom center is covering a Bosch kitchen machine that accepts a variety of attachments.

Selecting carpet from small samples is always an anxious task. You’re never quite certain about the choice until the carpet is down. In this case,we were very pleased. Heidi’s choice of carpet for the hall, the stairs and the basement was spot on. The colors aren’t easy to distinguish in this photo but they compliment everything very well.

This is the guest bath and laundry center. As you can see, the tile work is extensive. Thanks to the keen eye and exceptional craftsmanship of Tyson Siegert (T&T Tile) the tile work throughout the house is one of the most exciting elements of this entire project. Except for the countertops and hardwood, Tyson did all of the hard-surfaces in the house. A lot of the tile work is apparent in many of the photos on this site. Future photos will attempt to highlight more of Tyson’s work.

The most recent photos were shot on May 6th, two days after the application of the final coat of Swedish finish on the floor. We’ll be walking around in socks or shoe covers for a few months until the hardwood floor has had an opportunity to set. There will be more photos and a final summary as we wrap up this project. It’s been a long six months and we’re glad to see the light at the end of the tunnel getting brighter. Thanks to everyone who has logged onto our website and followed the progress. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments; you’ll find an e-mail link at the bottom of each page.
